Katonah yoga with lisa fraipont
Yoga is often a solitary practice.
Hands-on assists are a great way to learn to rely on others and to trust, while communicating with them. When adjusting, the Katonah Yoga way, we establish a dialogue through contact, we use our feet and our hands to establish a conversation.
Adjustments are meant to take you to places you would not go to by yourself, there is no goal of making the pose better, "correct" or to go deeper in the pose.
They allow us to be in a pose without using so much strength, to let go of personal investementand and of effort, to let someone else take over, carry the load and show us a direction that we might not be familiar with.
When adjusting you'll learn to use your eyes, your hands, props and language to make the experience fuller.
Think of hands on assists like conversations: they're always better with a few friends, they make our internal monologue richer, they change our habits and give us a fresh perspective.
During this 2 hours workshop, guided by Lisa, in groups of 2 or sometimes more, you will rediscover familiar yoga poses as well as poses coming from Katonah Yoga with the help of props and the leverage of another human body.
This workshop is geared towards practitioners of all levels, not just teachers.
